What Is Life Coaching?

Excellent question, glad you asked!

Although hiring a personal Life Coach has gotten increasingly popular in the last decade, I still meet people who ask me that question.

Here is what I tell them…

Life Coaching is urgent, inspired, and ambitious. It acknowledges the past but focuses on the here and now. It explores what is possible and actualizes a plan to build the life we want personally and professionally.

What is typically asked next is, “Does life coaching work?”

To which I say, heck, yes! And I know because I witness it every day. Whether a person is struggling with managing stress, building confidence, or identifying their passion in life, a collaborative partnership with the right coach can make miracles happen. I recommend to anyone wanting to give Life Coaching a try, to make sure they interview several to find the right fit. There are many of us out here but finding one that clicks with you is essential to the success of the coaching. You need to feel confident that the coach understands your needs. Ask plenty of questions to get a good sense of their moral compass and whether it aligns with yours.

 The inevitable follow up question…

“Is Life Coaching right for me?”

I don’t even know you, but I would venture to respond with a resounding, yes. It’s important to keep in mind that working with a Life Coach is no indication that your life is in turmoil or you are broken in any way. If someone tells us they go to the gym, we don’t assume that they are in poor health. Quite the opposite, in fact. We recognize that their physical health and discipline are sustained by their habit of going to the gym. Those who start a workout regimen specifically to solve a health problem rarely fix the problem and then stop going. They want to maintain their health and design new targets for success. Working with a Life Coach is like going to the gym. It keeps you working your muscles, improves your endurance, and puts you in the healthiest state possible. So, yes, if you are committed to embracing the life you’ve been given and curious about ways to make the very most out of each day, then yes, yes, and yes again, Life Coaching is right for you.

And finally, for me, life coaching is also about unwavering support and relentless compassion. It is a collaborative partnership built on exploration of choice and courage to take action. It’s about using my time, energy and experience to help you achieve the life you want. It’s about commitment. And I know, from years of experience, that when we fully invest in another human being, great things start to happen.
